Apgar Leads Men's Tennis Past Waynesburg

ERIE, Pa. – Yanigue Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) won his singles and doubles matches, leading the Penn State Behrend men's tennis team past Waynesburg 6-3 in non-conference action on Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club.

Apgar earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles and then teamed with Michael Funera (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-2 decision, helping the Lions (5-3) win their third straight matcdh and second in as many days.

Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Josh Denham at No. 3 singles, while Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot.

Behrend won two matches by default on the afternoon. Chris Heintz (Fairview, PA/Fairview) had no opponent at No. 6 singles for the win. At No. 3 doubles, Eric Cho (Seoul, South Korea/Cotter (MN)) and Jeremy Burnheimer (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) also won by default.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Alfred at 1 p.m.
