Men's Tennis Handles Pitt-Bradford

OLEAN, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team continues their winning streak in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Friday night with a 9-0 decision over Pitt-Bradford.

The Lions (10-7, 4-0 AMCC) had four players win their singles matches by a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Yanique Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) and Scott Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) were two of them who blanked their opponent. Apgar was the winner at No. 1 and Russell followed at No. 2.

Brenden Dollard (Pittsburgh, PA/Peters Township) and Jeremy Burnheimer (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hiltop) did not give up a match point, earning 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) and Michael Funera (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) had similar singles scores. McFarland won 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth spot and Funera captured No. 6 singles at 6-1, 6-0.

Apgar and Russell picked up two wins on the day with an 8-1 decision at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Dollard and McFarland also issued an 8-1 defeat over Andrew Hoyt and Alex Jadlowiec.

The third doubles win belonged to Michael Duckett (Girard, PA/Fairview) and Nick Kapty (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) with an 8-5 score.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday against Franciscan at 3 p.m.
