GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team picked up their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win with an 8-1 decision over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday evening.
The Lions (9-5, 2-0 AMCC) won all three doubles matches and only surrendered the fourth-singles match in three sets to defeat the Bobcats. Two of the three doubles matches were complete sweeps. Brenden Dollard (Pittsburgh, PA/Peters Township) and Scott Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) posted an 8-0 decision at No. 1 and Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) joined Noah Colvin (Warren, PA/Warren) for the same score at No. 2 doubles.
Belden Tuttle (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Michael Duckett (Girard, PA/Fairview) made up the finals doubles pair, winning 8-2 over Jeremy Simms and Michael Rosky.
Russell, playing at No. 1 singles for the third time this season, earned his first win at the top spot with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Vaughan Hunkele. Dollard then collected his second win of the season at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 score.
At the third singles, McFarland posted a 6-3, 6-2 win against Terrance Madarish. Colvin and Duckett tallied the final singles wins for Behrend. Colvin earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Oliver Robinson at the fifth spot and Duckett managed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6
The Lions return to action tomorrow against Penn State Altoona. Match begins at 1 p.m.
