Men's Tennis Remains Undefeated in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team remains undefeated in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action with a 7-2 win over Penn State Altoona on Sunday.

The Lions (10-5, 3-0 AMCC) won three doubles and four singles to hand Altoona (3-2, 3-1 AMCC) their first conference loss of the season.

The top four players for Behrend were double winners on the day. Absent from the lineup yesterday, Yanique Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) earned the win at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-0) and also teamed up with Scott Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 decision.

Russell followed his doubles win with a three-set victory at No. 2 singles (6-4, 0-6, 11-9). Brenden Dollard (Pittsburgh, PA/Peters Township) and Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) were the duo behind an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles. Dollard then posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision at third singles.

McFarland got his second win of the day at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 score.

Noah Colvin (Warren, PA/Warren) and Michael Duckett (Girard, PA/Fairview) got the final doubles win for the Lions with an 8-3 decision.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday, April 7 against Mt. Aloysius. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
