Men's Tennis Keeps Unblemished AMCC Record

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team only gave up five set points in the entire match to defeat Mt. Aloysius 9-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Saturday.

The Lions (11-5, 4-0 AMCC) captured their fourth conference victory, sweeping two of the three doubles and three of the six singles matches.

No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, consisting of Yanique Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) and Scott Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) along with Brenden Dollard (Pittsburgh, PA/Peters Township) and Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva), tallied 8-0 decisions.

Noah Colvin (Warren, PA/Warren) and Michael Duckett (Girard, PA/Fairview) completed the doubles at the third spot with an 8-1 victory.

Apgar, Russell and Michael Funera (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) all blanked their opponents. Apgar won at No. 1 singles, Russell competed at No. 2 and Funera was successful at No. 5 singles.

Dollard, at third singles, earned a 6-2, 6-0 win. McFarland and Colvin only surrendered one set point with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 victories at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at Alfred, beginning at 1 p.m.
