All-AMCC Men's Tennis Announced; Behrend Lands Six on Team

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team had six players selected to the 2022 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, announced on Tuesday.

Behrend, the 2022 AMCC Champions, had five players named to the first team including junior Mitchell May (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) chosen to both singles and doubles flights. May plays at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles along with teammate Jonathan Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt). Junior Max Lu (Plum, PA/Plum) also earned first-team honors in singles action at the No. 4 spot. Evan Dean (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) and Alex Graeca (DuBois, PA/DuBois) landed on the first team at No. 3 doubles.

Laier and Mason Harbaugh (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) were named to the second team at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

May tallied a 4-1 record at No. 2 singles in the AMCC. Overall, he led the Lions with an 11-11 overall record in the same spot. In the AMCC Tournament, the junior won his match in the semifinals and had the lead in the finals against Penn State Altoona in the unfinished match. May and Laier were first team All-Conference at No. 1 doubles with an undefeated 4-0 record. Together, they achieved a 14-8 overall mark. The duo also went undefeated at the AMCC Championships.

Lu earns his first All-Conference accolades at No. 4 singles for posting a 4-1 record in the AMCC.

Dean And Graeca, both freshmen, had an undefeated 4-0 AMCC mark with three of those wins coming at the No. 3 spot in doubles action. The pair registered a 7-8 overall record.

Laier was near perfect at No. 1 singles in AMCC play, posting a 4-1 record and finishing 13-10 overall. He was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for going undefeated at the championships this weekend. Harbaugh led Behrend at No. 3 singles with a 2-1 conference mark and ending 8-10 overall, getting a win in the AMCC semifinals on Saturday.
