Smith Sets New Personal Record at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team traveled to Tiffin University where they competed at the Tiffin Grand Prix.

In the 1000m, Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area), and Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) all stole the show by placing in the top four spots. Drozynski led the charge with a first place finish, and final time of 2:39.80. Cross and Lipsey followed close behind, crossing the line in second and third at times of 2:43.67 and 2:43.72, respectively. Barger closed out the top four with a time of 2:46.69.

Behrend's 'A' team for the 4x400m, comprised of Devin Ross (Shenango, PA/Shenango), Grant Rodgers (Oil City, PA/Oil City), Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park), and Barger earned a first-place finish with a time of 3:34.39.

Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) set a new personal record in the high jump and qualified for the ECAC championships by leaping at a height of 1.99m (6'6.25") for a second place finish.

In the 4000m DMR, Drozynski, Barger, Lipsey, and Graf all collectively took a second-place finish, running at a time of 10:50.86. Rodgers continued on the day to take a fifth place finish in the 400m. He ran a time of 52.28, while Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) finished in ninth place with a time of 52.77.

Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) finished in sixth place in the 3000m with a final time of 9:00.78. Marcus Haeseler (North East, PA/North East) also took sixth in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line at a time of 8.99.

In the 200m, Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) took ninth place with a time of 23.38. Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) and Kyle Grimm (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area) took ninth place finishes in the pole vault event at a height of 4.15m.

Behrend goes to the Ohio State Elite next weekend. The meet begin at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
