Men's Indoor Track & Field Captures Kenyon College Classic

GAMBIER, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track and field team won the Kenyon College Classic hosted by the Lords on Saturday.

The Lions finished with 123 points, while Mount Vernon Nazarene took second (110.50), Otterbein was third (109) and Ohio Northern came in fourth (63).

The men's squad posted seven ECAC qualifying times during the day.

Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) represented Behrend in the 200m with an ECAC qualifying time of 22.88, good enough for a second place finish. Devin Ross (Shenango, PA/Shenango) and Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview) claimed second and third place finishes in the 500m run. Ross finished at 1:08.46 while Cross followed with a 1:10.28, both qualifying for the ECAC championships.

In the 1000m run, Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area) and Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) punched their tickets for the ECAC championships with times of 2:37.83 and 2:40.26, respectively. Lipsey finished in third while Barger claimed fourth. Alex Kubala (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) took fifth place in the 1000m run, crossing the finish line at 2:42.37.

In the pole vault, Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) and Elijah Dangrow (Greenville, PA/Greenville) earned spots at the ECAC championships finishing second and third, respectively. Both pole vaulters topped out at a height of 4.25m. Kevin Stebick (Waterford, PA/Fort LaBoeuf) finish fifth at a height of 4.10m.

In the 5000m run, Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) was the top finisher with a final time of 15:50.99. In the 400m dash, Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park) and Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) finished behind one another. Graf came in fourth at 52.28 and Coleman took fifth at 53.34.

The men's 4x400 relay comprised of Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Grant Rodgers (Oil City, PA/Oil City), Ross, and Graf took first place. They ran a time of 3:29.46. Rodgers also competed in the 200m where he placed sixth at 23.51. Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) claimed second in the high jump, leaping at a height of 1.93m.

The Lions travel to Denison next Friday. The meet will begin at 5 p.m.
