Men’s Track and Field Finishes Fourth at ECACs

NEW YORK, Ny. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team capped off the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships Saturday with a fourth place finish, scoring 50 points.

The 4x800m relay of Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Alex Kubala, Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), and Grant Rodgers (Oil City, PA/Oil City) took a second-place finish on the day. The posed a time of 8:12.63.

In the 1000m run, Drozynski, Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area), and Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) all placed in the top six. Drozynski led the way with a second place finish at a time of 2:34.98, while Lipsey crossed the line at 2:42.49 for a fifth place finish. Barger topped it off with a sixth place finish at a time of 3:33.79.

Jack Georgetson ((Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) and Kyle Grimm (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area) took second and third in the pole vault event, respectively. They both jumped at a height of 4.20m.

In the high jump, Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) leaped a height of 1.95m for third place.

Devin Ross (Shenango, PA/Shenango) earned All-ECAC placing fifth in the men's 500m dash at a time of 1:07.23. Likewise, Rodgers continued on the day to notch All-ECAC in the 200m. He finished in seventh with a time of 22.74, while Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) took 11th at 22.96.

The 4x400m relay squad made up of Ross, Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park), and Rodgers posted a seventh place finish for the Behrend 'A' team. They crossed the line at 3:27.86.

Cross also competed in the 500m run, where he ran a time of 1:09.30 for an 11th place finish. Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) finished in 10th place with a 9:01.99 time in the 3000m run.

This meet concludes the indoor season for the men's squad, and they are now gearing up for the outdoor season.
