Men’s Track and Field Competes at Gator Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed in the 13th annual Gator Invitational at Allegheny College Friday afternoon.

Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) tied the Penn State Behrend school record 2.05m (6'8.75") jump in the high jump, placing second.

Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships in the 800 meter run. He crossed the finish line with a 10th-place time of 1:58.79.

In the 400 meter dash, Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Josh Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), and Grant Rodgers (Oil City, PA/Oil City) took sixth, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Nick Coleman came in at 52.59 while Josh Coleman and Rodgers finished right after each other with times of 56.17 and 57.09.

In the 5k, Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) posted a personal-best time of 15:42.65 for a fifth-place finish.

In the pole vault, Kyle Grimm (Beaver, PA/Beaver Area) earned fourth with a jump of 4.31 meters. Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.30 meters.

The Lions are back on the track on Monday when they travel to the Swarthmore Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.
