Men's Track and Field in Second at ECAC Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Penn State Behrend men's outdoor track & field team is in second place out of 20 teams after day one of the 2018 ECAC Championships hosted by Johns Hopkins on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays lead the field after the first day of competition with a team score of 35. The Lions are three points behind with 32 for second and Salisbury is two points away from Behrend at 30 total points.  

The Lions dominated the pole vault, earning 20 of their 32 points in this event. Kyle Grimm (Beaver, PA/Beaver), Kevin Stebick (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Elijah Dangrow (Greenville, PA/Greenville) and Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) finished 2-4-5-6 through the rain to each earn all-ECAC honors in the pole vault. Grimm cleared a height of 13.09.25 for runner up, while Stebick was fourth by hitting 13-09.25 on his third attempt at the height. Georgetson was fifth (13-03.50) for reaching that on his third try. Dangrow got the same height on his second attempt for sixth overall.

Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) placed fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 9:51.06 for All-ECAC honors.

In the javelin, Ethan Rhodes (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing) was able to earn a few points for the Lions with seventh place to be named All-ECAC.

The men's 4x400 relay clocked in at 3:22.58 for third overall.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the ECAC Championships.
