Men's Track & Field Claims Runner-Up Trophy at ECAC Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Penn State Behrend men's track & field team placed second out of 23 teams with a score of 81 at the 2018 ECAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Johns Hopkins on Thursday.

Wesley captured the ECAC Title with a team score of 93. The Lions were 12 points shy of capturing their first outdoor championship, followed by Penn State Harrisburg in third with 73 points and the host Blue Jays in fourth (72).

Grant Rodgers (Oil City, PA/Oil City) was the lone individual champion for Behrend, claiming the title in the 400m with a time of 49.22, while Devin Ross (Shenango, PA/Shenango) was sixth (50.69) and Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park) in eighth (51.33).

Rodgers also earned sixth in the 200m dash in 22.65. On his heels was teammate Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton), who came in seventh place with a time of 22.67 to make it .02 seconds separating the two.

Behrend had two athletes finish second overall in their respective events. Chris Drozyinski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) was under the four-minute mark for second in the 1500m event with a time of 3:59.55. Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) got the silver medal in the high jump with a leap of 2.03m.  

Matt Michael (Erie, PA/Iroquois) placed fourth in the men's shot put with a distance of 14.46m.
