Smith Qualifies For NCAA Championships; Lions Place in Nine Events

ITHACA, NY – The Penn State Behrend indoor track & field team competed in the final day of the All-Atlantic Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The Lions competed against 40 track and field teams. Behrend finished in 13th place on the men's side and 22nd place on the women's side.

Key Moments:

* Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) claims the AARTFC men's high jump championship qualifying him for the NCAA Championships next week in Boston, Massachusetts
* Smith had a jump of 2.06m tying him for tenth-best in the nation
* In the men's 300m, Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) medaled taking 6th place with a school-record-breaking time (8:43.23)
* Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) finished 16th in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.27m rebreaking her own school record
* Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) finished 11th in the 3000m run with a school-record-breaking 10:27.73
* Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) finished 12th in the 400m run with a time of 51.81
* The 4x200m men's team of Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton), Coleman, Eric Stehlik (Northport, NY/Northport), and Nick LaChut (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) finished with an 8th place medal and a time of 1:32.47
* The team finished the weekend with 16 scoring athletes and five broken school records
