Men's Volleyball Ends Regular Season With Sweeps

CAZENOVIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team picked up a pair of non-conference wins on Saturday, sweeping both SUNYIT and Cazenovia, 3-0.

In the first match of the day against SUNYIT, the Lions (15-8) won 25-17, 25-16 and 28-26. Antonio Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/UHS) led with 10 kills and three aces, while Colin Ingram (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Darby) tallied 36 assists.

Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) added 10 digs and four kills, and Josh Oertly (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) contributed five kills and three blocks.

Behrend handed Cazenovia a 25-14, 25-12 and 25-17 loss in the nightcap. It marked the second time the Lions defeated the Wildcats this season.  

Eric Theiss (Plum, PA/Plum) had a team-best 12 kills and Kevin Smith (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) recorded nine kills and four blocks. Mitch Farabaugh (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was setting in game two, dishing out 32 assists. Sheehan added 12 more digs for a total of 22 on the day, while Oertly posted eight kills.

The Lions hit the 15-win mark, tying the program record for most wins in a season.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at the UVC Tournament hosted by Nazareth.
