SUNY Poly Edges Men's Volleyball

KEUKA PARK, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team dropped their first of three matches on the weekend, falling to SUNY Poly 3-2 at the Keuka Tournament on Friday night.

The two teams traded sets up until the decisive fifth and final set. SUNY Poly earned a 25-14 decision to start and the Lions tied it with a 25-21 set-two victory. SUNY Poly went ahead 25-16 and Behrend tied it once again with a 25-22 fourth-set win. The Lions fell in the fifth, 15-9.

Trenton Munk (Baden, PA/Ambridge) led with 13 kills and seven blocks with Josh Oertly (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) not far behind with 12 kills and seven blocks.

Anthony Sprentz (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) recorded 25 assists and Luke Vensel (Erie, PA/McDowell) added nine digs, while Eric Theiss (Plum, PA/Plum) tallied seven kills, six digs and five blocks over five sets.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow against Keuka at 12 p.m. and Elms at 2 p.m.
