Behrend Men's Volleyball Hosts Mt. Union in Home Opener Thursday Night

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team will host the Mt. Union Purple Raiders in their home opener on Thursday night at the Junker Center. The non-conference match begins at 7 p.m.

* The Behrend Lions began the 2020 season this weekend on the road
* Behrend split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at Elizabethtown
* The Lions defeated Eastern 3-0 in the first match and then fell in five sets to the Blue Jays
* Behrend then swept St. Vincent on Sunday afternoon
* Senior outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) averaged 2.82 kills per set and hit .422 for the three matches over the weekend
* Hildebrand recorded double-digit kills in two matches, leading the team with 12 and 11 against Elizabethtown and St. Vincent, respectively, while also tallying 18 digs and three aces
* Junior JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) tallied a career-high 16 kills against Eastern
* Senior setter Jake Albert (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) tallied 46 assists for a 4.60 average to start the season

* The Purple Raiders are off to a 2-0 start this season after posting an 8-20 record in their first year as a varsity sport
* Mt. Union defeated Concordia Wisconsin and Thiel over the weekend, both by a 3-1 decision
* Justin Sibbel leads the team with 28 kills after two matches
* Sibbel led with 13 kills vs. Concordia Wisconsin and then tallied 15 vs. the Tomcats
* Sibbel also added 12 digs and five aces

* The Lions and Purple Raiders are meeting for the third time in program history
