Seniors Help Behrend Men's Volleyball Take Down St. Vincent, Thiel

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball continues to streak in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action with another pair of wins on Saturday in the Junker Center on Senior Day.  

Match One:
Score:
Penn State Behrend 3, St. Vincent 0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-12)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (17-6, 11-1 AMCC), St. Vincent (5-15, 4-8 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Graduate student JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) and Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) were honored before the match
* Goodsel and Schnur led the attack with 10 and nine kills with no errors, respectively
* As a team, the Lions had a .370 attack percentage with seven team blocks (one solo, 12 assist)
* Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) led with 21 assists and while Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) posted a team-best seven digs
* Goodsel, who paced Behrend with four kills in the first set, also added five digs and two service aces
* John Cageo (Beaver, PA/Lincoln Park Performing Arts) had three digs in the first set to help the Lions dominate 25-13
* The Bearcats took their first and only lead to start the second match
* Behrend used an 8-2 run to take the lead back and for good to win 25-20
* The Lions held St. Vincent to 12 points in the third set, allowing nine kills and forcing seven errors
* Behrend tallied 15 kills on 29 attempts with one error to close out the third 25-12 for the win

 Penn State Behrend 3, Thiel 1 (25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 17-25, 15-10)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (18-6, 12-1 AMCC), Thiel (8-15, 7-6 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions won their eighth straight and 12th overall conference victory of the season
* Goodsel registered his fifth double-double with a team-high 16 kills and 10 digs
* Martinez also had double-digit digs with 11 and Schnur tallied 11 kills and three blocks
* The first set had 14 ties and four lead changes, but the Lions went on a 6-1 run to close out the set
* Behrend took a 2-0 lead with a 25-12 second-set victory before falling in the third 25-23
* The Lions never trailed in the fourth to pull off a 25-20 win
* Behrend tied a season-high 13 blocks
* Ortiz posted 23 assists, seven digs and three service aces
* Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) added 18 assists and three digs
