Behrend Tops W&J, Falls to Gannon in Men's Water Polo

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team opened their 2019 season with a pair of games at the Washington & Jefferson invite on Saturday. The Lions beat W&J before falling to Gannon.

Penn State Behrend 13, Washingtom & Jefferson 9

* Lions goalie Matt Olimski (San Diego, CA/Otay Ranch) posted 14 saves and five steals against the Presidents
* Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) led Behrend's offense with four goals on seven shots along with one assist
* The team had an even distribution of goals with eight players scoring for the Lions
* Austin Hoff (Lake Forest, CA/El Toro) and Collin Holmes (Lake Forest, CA/El Toro) each contributed a pair of goals

Gannon 17, Penn State Behrend 9

* The Lions were led offensively by Hoff who registered three goals
* Jacob Harkins (Hollywood, FL/Saint Thomas Aquinas) scored a pair of goals along with one assist
* Olimski finished the game with 11 saves and three steals
* The halftime score of the game was 9-5 after Gannon scored five in the first period and four in the second
* Jeffery Eliott (San Antonio, TX/Brandeis), Chase Cordon (Canyon Lake, CA/Temecal Canyon), Greg Kinzler (Kiski, PA/Agora Charter Cyber School), and Jacob Stockwell (San Diego, CA/Valhalla) each scored one goal for the Lions
