Men's XC First Place Finish at Home Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team finished first out of 10 teams with a score of 37 points on Friday afternoon at the 8K Behrend Invitational.

The Lions had six runners finish in the top 12 to edge past Gannon who finished second. Fredonia, Houghton, and Westminster took third, fourth, and fifth place to round out the top five team finishers.

Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) finished first for Behrend and second overall with time of 26:27.2. Senior Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) crossed the finish with a time of 27:20.9 and was closely followed by Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) and Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) who finished seventh and eighth overall respectively with times of 27:29.2 and 27:39.3.

Jake Lehotsky (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) claimed the Lion's final scoring spot in 11th  place overall with a of time of 27:42.0. Alex Kubala (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) placed 12th overall with a final time of 27:42.6.

Behrend is back in action September 30th at Geneseo at 11 am.
