Men's Cross Country Lands Nine on All-Conference Team; Wortman Named Newcomer of The Year

ERIE, Pa. – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men's cross country All-Conference teams were announced on Thursday. Penn State Behrend had nine men runners receive All-Conference honors.

At the helm was head coach Greg Cooper. Cooper was named the AMCC Coach of the Year after leading the men's team to their seventh consecutive AMCC crown.

Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) was awarded Newcomer of the Year. Wortman finished third at the AMCC Championship meet and was the fastest freshman after Galligan with a time of 26:52. He claimed four of the top 15 finishes this season, including his season-best of 26:04 at the Highlander Invitational on October 7.

Three seniors were awarded All-Conference honors. Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville), last year's AMCC Runner of the year, and Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) earned the All-Conference award for the fourth time. Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area) earned the honor for the second time.

Sophomores Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Alex Kubala (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills), along with junior Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview) each were awarded the All-Conference nod for the second time.

Freshman Jake Lehotsky (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Timothy Wheeler (Albion, PA/ Northwestern) received All-Conference honors for the first time.

The Lions are running at the NCAA Regionals next Saturday, November 11.
