Men's XC Take 16th at NCAA Regionals

CARLISLE, Pa. – Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) was named to the All-Freshman Team after finishing 42nd at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Mideast Regional on Saturday afternoon.

The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team placed 16th out of 51 teams at the NCAA Regionals hosted by Dickinson on Saturday. The Lions finished with a team score of 496.

Wortman, who was tabbed Newcomer of the Year, led the Lions at NCAA Regionals with a time of 26:12.1. Seniors Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville), Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), and Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area) finished second, third, and fourth for the Lions in 54th, 99th, and 118th respectively. Buffington finished in 26:32.5, Griffith crossed the line at 27:10.1, and Lipsey finished in 27:28.7.

Finishing behind Lipsey in 187th and 188th to round out the top five for Behrend was Timothy Wheeler (Albion, PA/ Northwestern) and Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview).

The Lions wrap up another successful season that saw the program win its seventh straight AMCC Championship and 11th overall.
