Behrend’s Zachary Tingley Named AMCC Newcomer of the Year

ERIE, Pa. - Penn State Behrend freshman Zachary Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) was named the 2018 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year.  Tingley led Penn State Behrend and was the top overall freshman at the 2018 AMCC Cross Country Championships.  Tingley finished fourth overall in the race with a time of 27.16.61.  

On the season, Tingley competed in five events.  Zachary was a top-three runner for PSB all fall, crossing the finish line as the top Behrend Lion performer on two occasions.  The freshman from Stoneboro, Pennsylvania is an engineering major.

Penn State Behrend placed nine runners on the 2018 All-AMCC team.  Joining Tingley were Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic), Mark Bierly (Rebersburg, PA/Penns Valley Area), Jake Lehotsky (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Timothy Wheeler (Albion, PA/Northwestern), Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), and Nick Post (Union City, PA/Seneca).

In addition to the men, six Penn State Behrend women's cross country runners earned All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference honors on Wednesday afternoon.  Leading the way for Penn State Behrend was Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area).  Crissman was the top Behrend Lion performer at the 2018 AMCC Cross Country Championships, finishing third overall with a time 24:04.56.

Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) earned All-AMCC honors for the second time in her career.  She placed fourth overall at last weekend's championships with a time of 24:27.95. Hanna Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Kelley Giles (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), and Suraihyah Sule (Snellville, GA/Shiloh) each earned a spot on the All-AMCC team this fall.
