Lions Drop Two In Florida

CLERMONT, Fl.  – The Penn State Behrend softball team dropped two games on Tuesday night in Clermont, Florida. The Lions fell 10-2 to Rochester, before losing to Monmouth 5-0 in the closer.

In game one, Rochester score three runs in the third to start the scoring and got one run away from the eight-run rule with four more runs in the fourth. Behrend tallied two runs in the sixth thanks to Amy Greene's triple RBI after Morgan Griffin's double with one out.

Julie Heinl took the loss on the mound, going four innings and giving up seven runs on 11 hits while striking out two.

In the nightcap, Monmouth was able to score five runs on 10 hits. With a 2-0 lead after the fourth, Monmouth score three more in the sixth for the final margin.

The Lions had four hits, getting two from Ashley Gruber.

Behrend returns to action on Thursday against Elizabethtown and Moravian. Games begin at 5:30 p.m.
