ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team swept the La Roche Redhawks on Saturday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader, 0-6 and 16-5 to remain undefeated in conference play.

Game 1
* The Lions took on the Redhawks in game one, winning 6-0 in a shutout
* Katie Gozzard (Pittsburgh, PA/Deer Lakes) had two doubles in the second and fourth innings
* The doubles each scored two runs, giving Gozzard four RBIs
* AJ Nichols (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) pitched all seven innings, shutting out La Roche
* Nichols struck out three in a row in the fourth inning, making her total strikeouts 10
* Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) also had two doubles in the game, tallying one RBI
Game 2
* Behrend won the second game of the series against the Redhawks,16-5
* The Lions fell behind 5-2 by the middle of the third inning before they came back with a nine-run inning, pulling ahead 11-5
* Alayna Derzak (Seven Fields, PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) had a three RBI triple in the third, helping the Lions pull ahead 10-5
* Behrend continued to pad the lead in the fourth inning scoring five to eventually eight-run rule the Redhawks
* Derzak went 3-for-4 in the game, registering four RBIs
* Off the bench, Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) went 3-for-3 scoring two runs and one RBI
* Gozzard tallied two more hits in game two, totaling four hits on the day in five at-bats
