Softball Earns ECAC Tournament Bid; Lions Host Championship Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team received their ninth overall bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII Softball Championships, announced on Monday afternoon.

The Lions are the top seed and will receive a first-round bye. Behrend will host the semifinal and championship rounds of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Lions will take on the winner of No. 5 Hunter and No. 4 Albright.

Behrend returns to the ECAC Tournament for the second consecutive season in search for its first title. This year, the Lions won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular-season championship with a 16-2 mark to earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Lions fell to Franciscan on Sunday to be eliminated from the tournament.

First Round - Wednesday, May 8 at campus sites

*Game 3: No. 5 Hunter at No. 4 Albright

Semifinals - Saturday, May 11 - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

*Game 6: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2

Championship - Sunday, May 12 - 1 p.m.
