Lions Advance to AMCC Semifinal with Sweep of Alfred State

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team swept Alfred State on Monday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) tournament quarterfinal. The Lions will go on to play the winner of No. 4 Medaille and No. 5 Penn State Altoona on Wednesday.

* Behrend won the second game of the series against the Alfred State Pioneers, 10-2
* Alfred State scored their only two runs in the first inning of the game
* Behrend tallied one run in the first and five in the second to take an indefinite lead
* The Lions scored in each of the four innings they hit in
* Mackenzie McIntire went 3-for-3 again, with two doubles and one RBI
* Manioci contributed three runs and three stolen bases
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) chipped in two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a stolen base
* On the mound, Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) improved to 6-3, pitching the complete game and facing 20 batters
