Women's Basketball Secures No. 3 Seed For AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – Brittany Wilwohl (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) drained a career-high four three-pointers to finish with a game-high 22 points to lead the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team past Mt. Aloysius 81-35 in the final regular-season Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) game on Saturday afternoon.

The win gives the Lions (20-4, 15-3 AMCC) their second consecutive 20-win season and secures the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Behrend will host Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday night, beginning at 8 p.m.

Julia Myers (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) tallied her seventh double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Holly Bourquin (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) recorded 16 points and Kimmy Pol (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) was one rebound shy of her career high, pulling down 10 boards.

The Lions proved why they are ranked 13^th in Division III statistics in three-point field-goal percentage and 16^th in scoring margin, holding the Mounties (13-11, 10-7 AMCC) to 0-for-14 shooting from behind the arc and posting 56-point victory on senior day.

Despite the slow start to the game, Behrend shot 51.9 percent in the first half and went on a 16-4 run to make the score 25-10 with 6:41 left until intermission.  Myers began the run with six straight points and Abby Henderson (Meadville, PA/Meadville) followed with a triple and free throw for the Lions first double-digit lead at 16-6.

Behrend grabbed its biggest advantage on the last shot of the half by Natalie Corso (Moon Township, PA/Moon), nailing a triple off a Henderson steal and a Hannah Novotny (Cabot, PA/Knoch) assist.

The Lions did not let up after a monstrous first half. Mt. Aloysius was only able to score two points in the first seven minutes of the second stanza. Behrend's offense continued to shine and recorded its second highest scoring output of the season with 81 points.
