ERIE, Pa. – Becky Bard scored a game-high 14 points and Ali Maruca added 11 points to lead Mt. Aloysius past Penn State Behrend 58-36 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Mounties (3-0, 1-0 AMCC) were able to register 28 of their 58 points off turnovers along with holding a 24-6 advantage in the paint to get the win in their first conference game of the season.

The Lions (1-4, 0-2 AMCC) got eight points from Carlye Swanson (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley Central), while Brianna Bayly (Imperial, PA/West Allegheny) contributed seven points and team-best eight boards.

Emily Foy (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg), getting her first collegiate start, drained a pair of three-pointers to help Behrend take an early 8-4 lead. After Lindsy Sammarco's triple to give Mt. Aloysius a 9-8 lead, the teams relied on defense and would not score for the next four minutes.

Natalie Corso's (Moon Township, PA/Moon) tied it a 9-all, making the first of two from the charity stripe, but the Mounties went on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. Mt. Aloysius only spotted Behrend seven more points in the half for an 11-point edge heading into the second stanza.

The final 20 minutes were in the Mounties favor. They pulled out to a 20-point lead in the first six minutes behind six points from Bard.

Behrend returns to action against non-conference Hiram on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
