ERIE, Pa. – The Hiram women's basketball team shot 78.6 percent from the line and had three players in double figures to defeat Penn State Behrend 55-40 in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Lions (1-5) outscored the Terriers (2-6) 20-19 in the second half, but Behrend was unable to recover from the 16-point lead Hiram posted after the first half of play. Kelsey Koskinen led all scorers with 16 points, while Danielle Day tallied 13 points, five steals and five rebounds in the win.

Natalie Corso (Moon Township, PA, Moon) registered a team-best nine points thanks to three triples, and Sarah Schweitzer (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) added eight points and five rebounds.

The Terriers never trailed in the game, setting the pace with a 7-0 start. Two free throws by Alexis Kemper and a bucket by Koskinen at the 12:19 mark gave Hiram a 21-10 advantage. Five minutes later the lead grew to 17 points after a Kemper triple.

Emily Foy (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg) cut the lead to nine points with a pair of three pointers with 5:58 left in the first half. Four Behrend turnovers in the final minutes led to six Hiram points and the Terriers went into the locker rooms with a 36-20 lead.

The Terriers pushed the lead to 20 points on two occasions in the second half, holding the Lions to eight field goals and just two from behind the arc. Hiram also had a small edge in rebounds (43-42), while recording five blocks.
