Medaille Defeats Penn State Behrend in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – Brittnee Perry shot 10-for-11 from the floor to finish with a game-high 24 points to lead Medaille past Penn State Behrend 68-35 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

Perry came off the bench to lead all scorers and grab nine rebounds to help the Mavericks (4-4, 2-1 AMCC) post their largest margin of victory over the Lions (1-6, 0-3 AMCC) and collect their second conference win of the season.

Tara Caples was the only other player in the game to score double figures with 10 points for Medaille.

Natalie Corso (Moon Township, PA, Moon) scored her team-high nine points all in the second half and from beyond the arc. Brianna Bayly (Imperial, PA/West Allegheny) added eight points.

The Mavericks held Behrend to below 30 percent shooting and recorded a +15 rebounding margin to take the first game in the season series.

With the game tied at 4-all in the beginning of the first half, Medaille went on a 13-0 run to take the lead and never look back. The Lions managed to cut the double-digit lead to singles on back-to-back Bayly triples at the 8:25 mark.

Brittany Kiger (White Oak, PA/McKeesport) scored the last point for Behrend in the half with 5:34 remaining, while the Mavericks put up 10 straight points to close out the first stanza with a commanding 37-13 lead.

The Lions opened the second half going 4-for-8 from the floor, including a pair of buckets from Carlye Swanson (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley Central) but Medaille halted a chance for a comeback with an 8-0 spurt to hold off Behrend.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 28 against Gordon in the Land of Magic Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
