Lions Battle Penn State Altoona for First Round of AMCC Playoffs

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 20th appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament when they travel to Penn State Altoona for a first-round game on Wednesday night.

The Lions (10-15, 8-10 AMCC) earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 Penn State Altoona (12-12, 10-8 AMCC) at 6 p.m. The winner will travel to No. 1 seed La Roche on Saturday afternoon to face the Redhawks in the semifinals at 12 p.m. In the other first-round game, No. 6 Mount Aloysius travels to No. 3 Pitt-Bradford with the winner taking on No. 2 Hilbert in the second semifinal.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 12 p.m. at La Roche. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Behrend is looking for its third conference championship and first since the 2003-04 season. The Lions have advanced to eight title games since the inception of the AMCC back in 1997.

During the regular season, Behrend and Penn State Altoona split the two conference games. The Lions beat Altoona in December with a 77-75 win while Altoona beat Behrend 79-63 in late January.

The Lions are led by Alanna Dibble (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) who averages 10.8 points per game and eight rebounds. Dibble has posted six double-doubles for the team this season with a 49.5 field-goal percentage. Caitlin Carnuche (New Castle, PA/Mohawk) leads the team with 10.2 points per game. Carnuche tallied 254 points this season with a 40.9 field-goal percentage.
