Christine VanHook is entering her ninth season as the head coach of the women's basketball team. She became the sixth head coach in program history for the Lions entering the 2014-15 season. VanHook, assistant women’s basketball coach and head softball coach at Grove City and 2011 graduate of the College, was a basketball standout as an undergraduate.

Last season, the Lions posted an 21-7 overall record and advanced to the ECAC Championships. It marked the third straight season VanHook mentored her team to postseason play. She was also named AMCC Coach of the Year twice, most recently in 2021-22. VanHook earned AMCC Coach of the Year honors for the first time in 2015-16 for leading the team to a second-place finish during the regular season and posting a 15-12 overall record to rank the 15th most improved team in Division III.

A three-time All-PAC first-team choice at Grove City from 2007-11, VanHook finished as the program’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,634 points. She led the PAC in scoring her final two years and was second in rebounding. VanHook was also a four-year starter in the infield for the Grove City softball team, earning All-PAC honors each season.

Before returning to Grove City last year, VanHook spent two seasons as the graduate assistant for the Waynesburg women’s basketball program. She also assisted the softball team for one season (2013).

VanHook came back to her alma mater to assist the women’s basketball team and was also named interim head softball coach. In her first season, she led the Wolverines to a 12-21 overall record and 6-12 mark in the PAC. In addition to coaching, VanHook also spent one year as an instructor of physical education in circuit training.

A communication studies major at Grove City, she received a master's degree in business administration from Waynesburg in 2013.
