Fornari is the all-time leader in women's basketball coaching victories and is the winningest active female coach at Behrend. The four-time AMCC Coach of the Year boasts a 343-194 career record. During her tenure, she has led the Lions to eight ECAC playoff appearances, five AMCC regular-season championships, three NCAA Division III Tournament bids, two AMCC Championships and one ECAC Southern Region title.

She has coached 35 All-AMCC players, including three Players of the Year and two Newcomers of the Year along with two Academic All-Americans. In her 20 years at the helm of the program, Fornari's teams have recorded 19 winning seasons, including 16 straight dating back to 1997-98.

On February 9, 2011, Fornari picked up her 300th coaching victory in a 52-51 win over Pitt-Bradford on the Lions home court. Behrend went on to advance to the AMCC and ECAC Semifinals.

Fornari’s 1993-94 team posted a 21-6 record and played into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. That team was recognized as one of the greatest in Penn State Behrend history in 1998, when the squad and coaching staff were inducted into the Penn State Behrend Athletic Hall of Fame.

Well-respected in the basketball community, Fornari frequently speaks at basketball clinics, camps, and banquets. She has also served on many basketball committees, including the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Committee and was the chair of the Great Lakes Region from 2004-2007.

At the conclusion of the 2009-10 season, Fornari and women's basketball team were named the recipients of the Collegiate Officials Association (COA) “Donna Ledwin Sportsmanship Award”.
