ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona scored took a two goal lead after the first half and went on to post a 3-0 victory over Behrend in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women’s soccer championship game on Saturday.

The Lions (15-2-3) won their second conference title by posting their first win this season over the Behrend Lions (13-6-1). During the regular season, the two teams came to a 1-all standstill back on Oct. 16. Altoona received the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Three different players found the back of the net for the Altoona Lions and Lindsay Raspanti made two saves in goal for the shut out.

The Behrend Lions were able to fire off eight shots in 90 minutes, but unable to finish. Altoona capitalized on its shots early, scoring two goals on four shots in the first half alone.

Alyssa Robinson scored the eventual game winner on a header off a corner kick taken by Meredith Barcia in the first 1:04 of the contest. Marlee Hibbs gave the Altoona Lions a cushion with a goal at the 26:57 mark on a pass from Nikki Supsic. 

The final goal belonged to Meredith Waters in the 58th minute. She took a centering pass in the box from Erin Chafardon for a 3-0 lead that would stand for the AMCC crown.

The Behrend Lions will await a chance for a postseason bid to the ECAC Tournament.
