Huff Leads Lions Past La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Melissa Huff (Center, PA/Center Valley) headed both goals in on crosses from Julia Schroeck (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Danielle Pelensky (Harborcreek, PA/Harborcreek) to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past La Roche 2-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

Huff netted a goal in each half, scoring her first just 34 seconds into the game and then 15 minutes into the second half to help the Lions (3-7, 2-1 AMCC) post their second conference win and second shutout this season.

Schroeck and Huff wasted no time after the opening whistle to give Behrend the early lead.  Schroeck crossed the ball and Huff was able to get her head on it and past Maria DiPerna.

It was Pelensky and Huff who put Behrend ahead 2-0 in the 60th minute. The duo scored the second goal the same exact way as the first one. Pelensky crossed the ball and found Huff's head for the insurance tally.

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) earned the shut-out victory with three saves.  As a team, the Lions fired off 16 shots and the Redhawks managed seven shots.

Behrend returns action on Wednesday against Medaille, beginning at 1 p.m.
