Lee Lifts Behrend Over Medaille in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – Jenna Lee (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) picked the right time to score her first collegiate goal, leading the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Medaille 1-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday.

After a scoreless first half, the Lions (4-7, 3-1 AMCC) netted the only goal that mattered in the 53rd minute to earn their second consecutive win and hand the Mavericks (5-7, 3-1 AMCC) their first conference loss of the season.

Lee took one of nine shots registered by Behrend in the second half and made it count. Sam Vasy (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) beat her defender in the far left corner and sent the ball into the box to Julia Schroeck (Fairview, PA/Fairview). The senior then tapped the ball to a wide open Lee, who blasted the ball into the left-side netting for a 1-0 lead.

Schroeck had a chance to add an insurance goal at the 88:30 mark, but her shot hit the top of the crossbar.

The defense held sturdy for the entire 90 minutes, only allowing seven shots and two on goal. Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) saved those two shots for her second straight shutout.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Pitt-Greensburg. Game time is 1 p.m.
