McGuire Named 2018 ECAC Rookie of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend women's soccer freshman forward Brenna McGuire (McDonald, PA/South Fayette) has been named the 2018 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year, announced on Tuesday.

McGuire is earning her third Player of the Year honor this season, earning the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Newcomer of the Year and AMCC Offensive Player of the Year. She was also chosen to the All-ECAC First Team after being named to the All-AMCC First team. These accolades come after leading the conference with 18 goals and five assists for 41 points. McGuire earned ECAC Rookie of the Month for her standout play in the month of October. She started every game, registering three game-winning goals and scoring more than one goal in six contests.

McGuire helped the Lions capture their eighth straight AMCC Championship and berth into the NCAA Tournament, finishing with a 13-7 overall record. Behrend was the AMCC regular-season champions with a perfect 9-0 AMCC record.
