Women's Soccer Earns Bid to ECAC Tournament; Lions Will Face McDaniel Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team earned a bid to the 2019 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women's Soccer Championship, announced on Monday.

The Lions (10-7-2) earned the No. 4 seed in Pod 1 and will travel to No. 1 McDaniel (13-6) on Saturday at 11 a.m.  The winner of this matchup will face off against the winner of No. 2 Pfeiffer and No. 3 Shenandoah. This game will take place at McDaniel on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Behrend is making its eighth appearance in the ECAC Tournament and first since 2010. Behrend recently finished second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular season and received a first-round bye in the conference playoffs. The Lions were defeated by No. 1 seed Pitt-Greensburg in the AMCC Championship, 3-2.

No. 1 seed McDaniel was knocked out in the first round of the Centennial Conference tournament by Gettysburg in a 2-1 loss. The Green Terror will make their fifth ECAC Tournament appearance. Last season, McDaniel won the ECAC Championship with a 3-2 win over Albright in the final.

The Lions and Green Terror will be meeting for the first time in series history.
