Behrend Registers Four Conference Athletes of the Week To Start Fall Season
Four Penn State Behrend student-athletes have been chosen as Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week for the week of August 29-September 3.
ERIE, Pa. – Four Penn State Behrend student-athletes have been chosen as Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week for the week of August 29-September 3.
Senior midfielder Nicole Croushore (Smithton, PA/Yough) notched Offensive Player of the Week honors, scoring a pair of game-winning goals in the opening games of the season to help the women's soccer team capture two victories in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. She tallied the first of four goals vs. Franciscan and then netted the game-winner to defeat No. 8 John Carroll, 1-0.
Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was also pivotal in these two wins for the Lions, earning a pair of shutouts this past weekend en route to Defensive Player of the Week honors. She tallied five saves and two wins, holding No. 8 John Carroll scoreless to help Behrend capture the tournament for the first time since 2021.
Men's soccer junior Brock Kiefer (Eighty-Four, PA/Canon McMillan) was named Defensive Player of the Week after tallying an assist and playing a pivotal role on the backline all game to help the Lions secure a 3-1 win over MCLA in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Saturday.
Sophomore Lucas Boyd (North East, PA/North East) earned Men's Runner of the Week with a top finish for Behrend at the Westminster-Fisher Invite on Friday. Boyd ran a time of 16:32.58 for seventh place and helped the Lions to a runner-up finish as a team to start the season.
Both soccer teams are on the road this weekend, while cross country is back in action on Friday, Sept. 13 at home.
