Women's Swimming Moves Into First at AMCC Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team moved into first place after day two of the 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held in the Junker Center Pool on Thursday.

Women's Scores: 1. Penn State Behrend (264) 2. Alfred State (207), 3. Franciscan (102), 4. Penn State Altoona (62) 5. SUNY Delhi (2)

Noteworthy:

* The women won the opening 200 freestyle relay to set the tone for the night. Paola Maldonado (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led followed by Remy De Guzman (Mission Viejo, CA/Trabuco Hills), Abigail Witmer (Herndon, Va/Herndon), and Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) combined for a winning time of 1:40.75
* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) was the individual winner in the 500 freestyle with a gold-medal time of 5:20.63
*In the 200 IM, Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) had the top time for the Lions for a third-place finish (2:16.82)
* The Lions won the top four spots in the 50 freestyle. Wyckoff led the pack and won her first 50 freestyle individual championship with a top time of 24.62 for 16 points

5th Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown) – 2:26.69
