Behrend Women's Swimming and Diving Leads After Day One of Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team is in first place out of five teams after day one of the 2022 Allegheny Empire Championships hosted by Nazareth College at the Webster Aquatic Center on Wednesday night.  

Combined Women's Scores: 1. Nazareth (134), 2. Penn State Behrend (116), 3. Alfred State (108), 4. Hartwick (86), 4. Alfred (86), 6. Penn State Altoona (72), 7. Wells (62), 8. Pitt-Bradford (40), 9. Utica (32), 

Noteworthy:

* In two events, the Lions registered 116 points to place first among AMCC teams and second overall
* Behrend took third place in both relays on the night
* Emma Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford), Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk), Bella Nadzam (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), and Aliya Webster (Bradford, PA/Bradford) were crowned AMCC Champions with a time of 8:13.26
* That time was good enough for third overall 
* The team of Webster, Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock), Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown) and Puglia also placed third in the 200 medley relay overall and second in the AMCC

Next Up:

* Behrend returns to the water tomorrow for day two of the AMCC Empire Championships. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
