Women's Tennis On a Roll; Lions Defeat Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team recorded their fifth straight win and sixth consecutive conference victory, posting an 8-1 win over Penn State Altoona on Saturday.

The win marks the Lions (8-1, 6-0 AMCC) second AMCC victory in two days after posting an 8-1 win at Pitt-Greensburg yesterday afternoon.

Arica Christman (Sharon, PA/Sharon) and Stephanie Cattron (Greenville, PA/Commodore Perry) posted shut-out victories in both doubles and singles. They teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, before recording 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

Leslie Durante (Fairview, PA/Fairvew) and Allison Quigley (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) were also double winners for Behrend. After winning 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, Durante went on to earn a 6-3, 6-1 decision at the No. 3 singles spot and Quigley took No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Rachel Harris won the last singles match for the Lions with a second-set tiebreaker victory (6-0, 7-6 (7-3)).

The Lions return to action today against St. Vincent. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
