MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's and women's tennis teams defeated Penn State Behrend 9-0 in both matches in non-conference action on Monday afternoon at the Robertson Complex.
For the men's team, it was the final match of the season and for the women it was final non-tradition match before they compete in the NCAA Tournament.
Freshman Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) had the best singles match for the Lions. After falling in the first set 6-3, she bounced back to win the second set 6-3 and then dropped the decisive set, 10-0. No other Behrend player won a set in singles play.
Laffey also teamed up with Chelsea Czerwinski (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) at No. 1 doubles, but fell 8-2 to Sun Mo Koo and Andrea Bush.
On the men's side, Allegheny posted four shut-out wins in singles competition, while giving up just three set points in doubles for the victory.
