Women's Tennis Picks Up Second Straight Win

BUFFALO, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and five singles to defeat D'Youville 8-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

The Lions (2-0, 2-0 AMCC), playing in their second match in two days, remain undefeated in the early season with a pair of conference wins over the weekend. Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) and Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) earned the first doubles win at No. 2 with an 8-3 decision.

Kayla Canfield (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) and Montana Murphy (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin) made it 2-0 in the match with an 8-4 victory at No. 3. Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) competed at No. 1 doubles, picking up a 9-8 win.

Five of the six doubles players won their singles matches. Miller and Bentley blanked their opponents at No. 2, and No. 3, respectively with a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Adams defeated Bryannia Sutton 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, while Canfield took down Morgan Finn 6-1, 6-3 at the fifth spot.

Murphy picked up her first collegiate singles win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at Fredonia. Match begins at 4 p.m.
