Women's Tennis Falls at Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY - The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team dropped their first match of the season, falling to non-conference foe Fredonia 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils won all six singles and a pair of doubles matches to hand the Lions (2-1) their first loss.

Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) kept their doubles record unblemished with an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 spot. Bentley and freshman Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) took their singles opponents to a tiebreaker set at No. 3 and No. 1, respectively. Bowles won the first set 6-3 adn then fell 6-4 (10-7), while Bentley fell 6-4 and then evened the match with a 6-2 win before falling 10-5.

Behrend returns to action on Friday against Pitt-Bradford. Match begins at 4 p.m.
