Lions Remain Undefeated in AMCC Action

ERIE, PA – Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia), Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) were all double winners to help the Penn State Behrend women's tennis team defeat Pitt-Bradford 6-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Friday night.

Bowles picked up her first collegiate singles win at the No. 1 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Alexa Holleran. Miller was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Maya Bingaman at second singles, while Bentley won by default at No. 3.

The Lions started the match with three doubles wins. Miller and Bentley teamed up at No. 1 for an 8-3 decision and then Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) and Bowles were victorious at No. 3 doubles with a 9-7 score.

Marissa Litzenberg (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) and Kayla Canfield (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) tallied the final doubles win at the second spot with an 8-6 decision, helping the Lions (3-1, 3-0 AMCC) take a 3-0 lead heading into the singles competition.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow against La Roche. Match begins at 1 p.m.
