ALTOONA, PA – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team dropped their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match 6-3 to Penn State Altoona on Friday night.
The Altoona Lions (2-2, 2-2 AMCC) won two doubles matches, before winning four singles for the conference victory.
Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) tallied the doubles win for the Lions (4-2, 4-1 AMCC) with an 8-1 decision at No. 1.
Bentley, the lone double winner of the day, then tallied a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) went three sets, defeating Kate Hugenduble 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (10-6). Miller and Vanessa Galatic (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) took their opponents to three sets in singles action, but fell at the No. 2 and No. 6 spot, respectively.
Behrend returns to action tomorrow at Mt. Aloysius. Match begins at 12 p.m.
