Lions Post 6-3 Win Over Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team dropped won three doubles and three singles matches to defeat Mt. Aloysius 6-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) were victorious at both doubles and singles for the Lions (5-2, 5-1 AMCC). The pair teamed up for an 8-4 decision at No. 1 doubles.

Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) and Bayliegh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) tallied an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Kayla Canfield (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) and Montana Murphy (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin) completed the sweep with an 8-4 victory at the third spot.

Miller made the match 4-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 score at No. 2 singles and Bentley pushed the lead to 5-0, defeating Kate Arnold 6-3, 6-0 at third singles.

The Mounties won the next two singles matches, but Vanessa Galatic (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) added the insurance win at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Maggie Willason.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow on Saturday against Geneva. Match begins at 12 p.m.
