Women's Tennis Edges Pitt-Greensburg

ERIE, Pa. – Vanessa Galatic (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted a win at No. 6 singles to help the Penn State Behrend women's tennis team defeat Pitt-Greensburg 5-4 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

The Lions (6-4, 6-2 AMCC) won two of the three doubles matches for a 2-1 lead and then jumped out to a 5-3 in singles to secure the conference win.

Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Celeste Bently (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, before the Bobcats evened the match at 1-0 with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles. Bayleigh Adams (Manchester, NJ/Manchester) and Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) gave Behrend a 2-1 lead with an 8-4 decision in the second spot.

Bentley, playing at No. 3 singles, made it 3-1 with 6-1, 6-0 score. Pitt-Greensburg managed to even the score at 3-all with the next two singles wins at No. 5 and 4.

Miller was victorious at No. 2 singles, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 and then Galactic sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at the No. 6 spot.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday against Grove City at 3:30 p.m.
