Women's Tennis Competes Twice This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team is back in action tonight against Division II Edinboro. The match will be played at 6 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club. The Lions will then travel to Medaille to take on the Mavericks Saturday at 4 p.m. in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Behrend Lions are 0-1 to start the season
* Behrend fell in the season opener 6-3 last Saturday
* Behrend tallied an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles thanks to Rachel Weber (Hampton, PA/Hampton) and Sara Howard (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood)
* Howard not only tallied her first collegiate doubles win but she also registered a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to go undefeated on the day
* Freshman Audra Carnes (Fairview, PA/Fairview) recorded the other singles win for Behrend in her first collegiate match
* Carnes defeated Kelsey Murphy 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot

* The Fighting Scots are searching for their first win of the season
* Edinboro is off to a 0-5 start, recently falling 5-2 to Seton Hill
* Torye Calleja posted a win at No. 2 singles  against Seton Hill 
* Kaede Tada sits at 3-2 on the season playing in the No. 1 singles
* The duo of Emily Cevera and Lauren Chiacchia will look to make it two straight doubles wins after their victory at No. 3 doubles on Sunday

* The Mavericks are 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the AMCC this season
* Medaille defeated Penn State Altoona 8-1 for the lone win
* Jasmine Mott is 1-3 at the No. 1 singles position and 2-2 at No. 2 doubles
* Kristina Hryshchuk and Ali Richardson are on a three-match winning streak at No. 2 doubles
* Hryshchuk is also 2-2 at No. 2 singles
